This attractive holiday simplex is absolutely on the main
Winklespruit beachfront. It has 2-bedrooms which sleep up to 6 people (all linen is provided-but please bring your own towels), and it is fully tiled. The open-plan kitchen is fully equipped with the usual kitchen items, plus microwave, fridge, stove, electric frying pan, pressure cooker, snackwich maker, toaster, kettle, iron, etc. The full bathroom has a separate shower. The Lounge with TV (DSTV is available - please bring your decoder and Smart Card), leads onto a patio (with chairs, table & umbrella) - and is on the ground-level, close to 2 large sparkling pools (adults & childrens'). No need to leave your patio to watch the children in the pool. Access to the patio is also from the main bedroom, which has a brand new queen bed for your comfort. There are fans in both bedrooms and lounge. This simplex has its own private safe for valuables.
A carport is provided, for one car, which has space for a trailer.
The complex is completely fenced with remote for the gate and key for the beach gate, for extra safety. In addition, a 24-hr. security patrol adds to the security of your holiday. Enjoy a braai/barbeque while you relax under the lapas on benches with a lovely sea view. From the tranquil gardens, which are tropical & lush, a gate leads onto the beach (locked for security purposes), where you will find the lagoon, good fishing rocks (shad area), atop of which are first class, newly renovated tidal pools (adults & childrens') - with Lifesaver. The Main Beach is fully protected by shark nets and is patrolled by qualified Lifesavers. The beach is gloriously long for relaxing walks on the sun-drenched sand or jogging to keep fit and the sea is ideal for surfing/kitesurfing, jet-skiing and kayaking. No roads to cross!
The Pick 'n Pay Mall and Spar Centre is about 600 metres walk and the launderette is a mere 200 metres away. Restaurants and Sporting facilities are nearby with a Woolworth's Food Emporium, in
Amanzimtoti and Golf Courses in Umbogintwini and other nearby areas.
Winklespruit is 50 minutes drive away from the new King Shaka International
Airport and 20 minutes from Durban by car, (close enough to the city without being on a crowded beach)... as well as within easy driving distance to Durban Waterfront, uShaka World, Wild Coast Casino,
CrocWorld, Tala Valley Game Farm (up the R63, towards Umlaas) - which is worth a visit - the Sharks Board and the
Empisini Nature Reserve is only 15mins away. Dolphin watching is common and whale sightings are always exciting. Aliwal Shoal is a most popular dive destination, which is a 20-minute drive south of Winklespruit. Divers flock there from around the world and sightings of the ragged-tooth shark can almost be guaranteed. The shoal comprises of a variety of sponges, some soft and hard corals and warm and cold water reef fish. The wreck of the "Produce", a Norwegian freighter that struck Aliwal Shoal in 1974, now rests in 30 metres of water and makes an interesting wreck dive.
