Leisure Bay is a get away with tranquility and nature’s treasures and is a
bird lover’s paradise. 508 Essex Road offers an opportunity to live with nature
under the indigenous fig tree which brings paradise flycatchers, namaqua doves
and Knysna louries to your doorstep with a backdrop of indigenous sand dunes and
pristine beaches. The local coastal buck [phiti], visit the garden on quiet
days. The coolness of the house and garden are an unusual attraction to a beach
cottage. When the weather is windy this garden is cool and snugly protected
behind the sand dune, but when the weather is glorious the beach offers swimming
(with life guards during holidays), rock pools and wonderful walks along the
dunes with excellent fishing off the rocks. Kidd’s Beach is across the road from
the house, Peter Pan Beach offers a protected area for young children to play
and swim. There is no sea view from the house.
The privately owned family holiday home has been recently renovated and is fully
equipped for comfortable accommodation for 10. It is best suited for 2 families
sharing as 2 bedrooms have queen sized beds and en suite bathroom / shower. 2
Beds are separate from the house so are suitable for teenagers or adults. The
home is fully equipped with towels, linen, kitchen equipment [stove, fridge,
deep freeze], DSTV, DVD, CD, dish washer, washing machine and tumble dryer. No
landline telephone is available so please bring your own 3G and cell phone for
internet connection. 1 Bathroom and all bedrooms are wheelchair friendly and the
house and verandah is accessible from the road and the garden. All rooms have
overhead fans. Reliable domestic help is available on request, at an extra cost
per day. On hot summer evenings the bedroom doors can be left open onto the
secure verandah to catch the breeze and listen to the nearby frogs.
Some of the family can enjoy tranquility while others seek the golfing circuit
nearby (10 min) or the Wild Coast Sun Casino (15 min). Shelley Beach (20min)
offers shopping and exciting deep sea adventures.
Smoking is allowed in the garden, not in the house. We encourage you to bring
your dogs [max 2] on holiday with you, but please control their impact on the
garden and the furniture! The garden has palisade fencing and an electric fence
monitored by G&P Security.
We prefer to just unwind in the warm tropical beach surrounds, bird watching
with our family and our dog.
