St. Lucia, The Town
St. Lucia is known as the gateway to the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park (World Heritage Site) and therefore ideally positioned as an accommodation base for further exploration of the vast activities in the area. It can be found 70km north of Richard's Bay on the Kwazulu-Natal's Elephant Coast.

It is a great place to relax and to get way from it all. Activities include fishing, swimming, boat trips on the estuary, bird watching, snorkeling, game and whale viewing.

Getting back to nature doesn't necessarily mean that you need to leave everything behind as there are modern conveniences available in St Lucia like restaurants, pubs, shops, Internet cafes and various other stores ranging from clothing through to fishing.

Greater St Lucia Wetlands Park
Cape Vidal, one of the best snorkeling and spear fishing venues on the coast, is 32km north of St Lucia. Access to it is through this nature reserve and it also contains 4 of the Big 5 animals (no Lion as yet).

Mission Rocks is a scenic spot and can be found along the drive to Cape Vidal. Also on route are various viewing spots of the vast lake system.

Animals regularly spotted around this area include black rhino, elephant, crocodiles, hippo and many varieties of buck. Over 500 species of birds can be spotted here including the African Fish Eagle, Goliath Heron and the full family of King Fishers to name but a few.

Other Interesting Excursions

• Boat safari's on the lake to see crocodiles and hippos in St. Lucia Estuary.
• Whale watching off the coast of the warm Indian Ocean during the winter months.
• Self-guided nature trails.
• Turtle tours during November, December and part of January.
• The Hluhluwe/ Umfolozi game reserve is 35 minutes drive away.
• Horse riding in the wetlands of St. Lucia.

Accommodation
The fully equipped and serviced self catering flat is situated on the 1st floor of this up-market complex. It contains 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, open plan lounge and dining area, kitchen and a balcony with views over the estuary.

The unit can sleep 6 people (1 double bed, 2 single beds and 2 bunk beds) and the main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. It also had a TV with a DSTV decoder (bring your own DStv card), 24-hour security, tennis courts, squash courts, laundry, swimming pool and a jetty on the premises.

The unit is services daily and linen is provided (does not include towels).
