Shelly Beach, specialises in:

All four boats currently in operation are equipped for deep-sea fishing and pleasure excursions along the Hibiscus Coast (South Coast) of KwaZulu-Natal.
Boats, tackle and equipment on Awesome Boats are of superior quality and the owners are proud to be associated with the top skippers at Shelly Beach. All staff is permanently employed to ensure that clients get the best service, impart solid knowledge of their trade. Having permanent staff eliminates high turnover of seasonal and temporary employees not fully qualified to address vital issues of their trade. Time on land is spent to meticulously maintain boats and tackle. All business is conducted with the view of forging long-term relationships. We therefore not only welcome ALL criticism but in fact ENCOURAGE it.
Launching & Equipment (tackle)
Boats are front (dry) launched by tractors and therefore ensure utmost comfort for all on board. These (26-ft) cats are licensed to carry 12 crew (skipper, first hand and 10 charters) and are powered by 115 Yamaha outboard motors. To allow each angler extra space and comfort, a maximum of 8 anglers per boat are taken aboard. However, in cases where a groups charter a boat, these groups are entitled to take the maximum of 10 crew members should they wish to do so.
Tackle used consists of Shimano Tld 25 reels on Penn 30 - 50 rods and Daiwa 600 reels on Daiwa rods. Boats are equipped with heavier and lighter tackle as well as bottom fishing rods so the crew can participate in bottom fishing when the current allows.
Furthermore all boats have toilet facilities on board.
Six hours on the water is guaranteed. Awesome Charters undertakes to refund charters on a pro-rata basis in the event of having to return to base because of unforeseen circumstances (such as inclement weather conditions) e.g. if boats are forced back to base after 4 hours, customers will be refunded 1/3 of the amount paid. Boats normally stay out for 7-8 hours.
Boat Charter
AT&C provide Deep-Sea Fishing and Pleasure Excursions. For the discerning and adventurous traveller who wishes to seize the thrill of boarding a boat, discover the exhilarating feeling of Deep-Sea Fishing and during the
Sardine Run have the opportunity to spot whales and watch dolphins play and often swim alongside the boat.
Deep-Sea Fishing
Although boats cater for 12 crewmembers, a maximum of eight anglers per boat are booked for deep-sea fishing. Awesome Charters will gladly commit themselves to apply all sources available to ensure value for its customers.
Launching normally takes place at first light in winter and about 05:30 - 06:00 in summer. Boats return to base at approximately 13:00 - 14:00 depending on the tide. Due to the extensive time spent on the boat, anglers should make provision for something to eat and drink (As an additional service catering e.g. boat lunches etc can be arranged).
Costs for chartering the boat - all tackle, bait etc. provided are available on request.
Ocean Excursions
As the boat is licensed for 12 people, a maximum of 11 crew plus the skipper can be accommodated - we need however a minimum of 8 crew to make the trip economically viable.
These excursions are intended for those who do not enjoy a full day's deep-sea fishing at sea, but still want to say - done it, been there and got the T-Shirt. The excursion includes site seeing from the boat, a visit to the Protea Reef (± 7½ km off shore), watching other boats bring in some fish and trolling lures or doing a drift for half an hour or so - which will provide us the opportunity to land a tuna or two to add that extra bit of excitement.
Once on the Reef, trolling will be done to the southern pinnacle of the Reef, then pull up lines and continue the cruise past
Margate - while in season, share in the enchantment of watching the dolphins frolic and swim around the boat and often you spot a whale from May - November. Come and experience the Sardine Run - a phenomenon encountered only on the South Coast of KwaZulu Natal, and only during winter.
