THE ELEPHANT SANCTUARY
Animal Interaction and Rides
in Hartbeespoort & Dam, Eastern Region,
North West, South Africa
The Elephant Sanctuary provides a safe haven for our elephants and offers a
unique platform for guest education and interaction.
Walk with, Ride and experience elephants as never before as an encounter with
these magnificent animals will deepen your understanding and change you forever!
Nestled in the Magaliesberg Mountains, only one hour from Johannesburg and
Pretoria, The Elephant Sanctuary at Hartbeespoort Dam lies in a malaria-free
area and is surrounded by natural indigenous bush. We have 5 African Elephants
on site (out of the 13 in the group of sanctuaries) that have been rescued from
various situations like: hunting concerns, zoos,
export-to-overseas-zoos-and-circuses, and from relocation programmes where there
has been overpopulation of elephants.
A caring team will introduce you to each elephant, with their own individual
character, personality and temperament. This will be done through a unique,
educational and interactive experience, during one of the three programs
(8:00am, 10:00am & 2:00pm) held 7 days a week.
The program includes both information about and interaction with the elephants.
In addition to the elephant program we also offer as optional extras, the
Elephant Back Ride and pre booked lunch. Team building and conferencing are also
done at the sanctuary.
Join us for a touching elephant experience with the elephant people who really
care!
