Florence Farm
Florence Farm is an active farm situated in the heart of the beautiful East Griqualand area. Wide open spaces, panoramic views of the Drakensberg and peaceful surroundings epitomise this simple but sweet spot. If you love riding horses and crave “The Great Outdoors”, you have found the right place!

The farm enterprises include beef, dairy, sheep and maize production. Visitors are welcome to join in with the farming activities which include checking on the stock on horseback, cattle rustling, sheep shearing, farm drives, feeding, dipping, combining, haymaking and more, depending on the time of year. There are also numerous delightful picnic spots under shady trees near the streams and dams.

Horse Riding
With the cost of keeping a horse near town nowadays, horse riding is almost an unattainable luxury for some. We offer very reasonably priced rides of various lengths to all types of riders. The friendly horses on the farm are ex-polo ponies and are therefore well-controlled, responsive and obedient. Riding helmets, saddles and all tack are provided. All riders must sign an indemnity form before embarking on a horse.

• Beginner rides: 15-30 mins. Horses are led around the yard
• Novices: 30-60 mins. Short out-rides accompanied by the owner
• Experienced: 1-3 hrs. Longer out-rides accompanied by the groom
• Independent: Day rides across a few farms nowadays with or without the groom

Directions
Once you get to the little village of Matatiele. The tar road will suddenly end after you have driven through the village. About 500m after the tar ends, there is a district road on your left called the D636. Turn onto this road and travel for 4km. You will drive over a bridge across a little stream and the next farm on your left is Florence Farm. You will see the sign near the road.

• Beginner and Novice riders: R30 per half hour per rider.
