The Riding Experience
Your Horseback safari adventure will begin at the Hluhluwe River Lodge and
Adventure Centre in Hluhluwe, Kwa-Zulu Natal. Under the guidance of qualified
guides you will be taken out into the False Bay Nature Reserve to experience the
scenic beauty and tranquility of this world heritage site. As part of the
Isimangaliso Wetland Park, False Bay Nature Reserve is an area of grand
Landscapes and beautiful Natural Bush and Sand Forest.
Having vast experience in the adventure tourism sector, we know that there
are different levels of fitness and riding competence in our guests. It is with
this in mind that we train each of our horses to provide a safe and enjoyable
experience. With horses to suit each and every rider we spend time before the
ride begins to find out just what you are comfortable with and make sure that
you get the riding experience most suited to you.
Whether you are looking for a quiet ride through the sand forest to listen to
the birds or a relaxed canter down the sandy plains of False Bay, we like to
think we have a ride to suit every taste.
Getting up close to wildlife like Nyala, Zebra, Warthogs and Giraffe you will
experience first hand what the Game Rangers of Old, men like Harry Wholuter who
wrote “Game Ranger on Horseback”, experienced on a day to day basis. You will
get to understand the challenges faced by those who in the early days of
“Operation White Rhino” were riding their horses through the same bush catching
up the last of a disappearing population of Rhinos.
