Lesotho Mountain Adventures is part of Mont Plaisir Guest Farm in Fouriesburg
in the Eastern Free State of South Africa, and close to the Lesotho border and
offers you high-quality accommodation and also high quality tours in the Free
State and to Lesotho.Lesotho is a country with rugged Mountains, remote and
challenging high-altitude mountain passes, isolated villages, beautiful mountain
streams with their crystal clear fast flowing water with waterfalls, and with
people still living in the old traditional Basotho culture.
The Eastern Free State is a beautiful area on the border of Lesotho, in the
foothills of the Maloti Mountains and the Drakensberg, which has not yet been
discovered by mass tourism. You will still find there beautiful pristine nature,
where game is still free roaming and where you will have the feeling as if you
are alone on the world.
Both areas offer beautiful nature and unlimited possibilities for outdoor
activities such as fishing in the mountain streams, quad biking, pony trekking,
and hiking and snow skiing in winter in Lesotho.
Taking the rugged mountains and laid back atmosphere of Lesotho in mind, an
adventure into Lesotho will be once in a live time experience.
On our tour you will be accompanied by our experienced guides, who will take you
away from the paved roads and the typical tourist destinations into the deep
interior of the country, to places where it seems that time does not exist.
For most of the day trails in Lesotho and for all overnight trails in Lesotho
you will need a 4x4 vehicle, equipped with long-range fuel tanks, water tanks,
cooking gear etc. We take you in our comfortable and fully equipped Land Rover
Defender or Toyota Land Cruiser. If you have your own 4x4 vehicle we can make
all local arrangements for you and accompany you with one of our vehicles.
We offer a number of standard tours, but we also offer you tailor-made tours.

The tours will take you to a rural and unspoiled traditional country, so it is
important to have a flexible and open mind. During the overnight tours most
accommodation will be quite basic, but rustic, often converted trading posts, or
in a village in a typical Basotho Hut, made available to us by the Chief. Our
meals are self cooked or picnic type along the road. There are no toilet
facilities along the road, so also that aspect requires some flexibility, which
adds to the adventure experience.
