Swaziland’s Maguga Dam is a stunning Lightleys Holiday Houseboat destination
where you can be “Captain Of Your Own Holiday” while you take in the incredible
beauty and tranquillity of the setting and enjoy the many tourist attractions
which have developed in this Northern Highlands of Swaziland.
Located just south of Piggs Peak, the dam has a capacity of 332 million cubic
meters of water and a wall height of 115 meters, making it one of the highest in
Southern Africa. It is well known for its excellent fishing opportunities and
holds the national bass record currently set at 5,3kg!
Fed by the Komati River the dam is situated within the Komati Gorge which offers
it protection against the elements. As a result of the warm water flowing into
it ,there is a healthy water bird population and a variety of small game roaming
the banks which can be viewed from the comfort of your houseboat.
Swaziland is a pleasant three hour drive from Johannesburg in South Africa and
Maguga Dam is just 35 minutes from either Jeppies Reef or Oshoek Border Posts,
off the Piggs Peak road – just follow the Maguga Dam signage.
We have strategically placed eight mooring points in the dam, chosen
specifically for their good fishing and birding opportunities and their privacy.
Our houseboats can sleep up to four people and are superbly equipped for a
self-catering getaway, with everything you would need to prepare and enjoy your
own food on board, as well as linen. There is a barbeque grill on the deck.

Your Lightleys Houseboat holiday in Swaziland will be an unforgettable
experience. Choose to be the Captain of your own holiday or, if you are not
comfortable driving the houseboat, let one of our staff members drive you to
your mooring point. Our staff will meet you in the morning at your overnight
spot to clean the boat and restock the fresh water supply.

surrounds as you get away from it all, or explore the area and its vibrant
culture. The choice is yours….
This beautiful sleek cruiser sleeps 4 and is fully equipped and self-catering.
There is a radio/CD player, barbeque facilities, fish and depth finder and
en-suite facilities.
Optional extras include packed meals from the Taste of Africa restaurant,
Sundowner packages, daily rentals and gillie services (including a boat driver,
if required).
The beautiful Maguga Dam is surrounded by gorgeous indigenous bush, has stunning
bird life and is well stocked with Large Mouth Bass (the record catch was +
5kg).
