Charter fishing off the Natal North Coast is an experience not to
be missed! Ocean Echo Fishing Charters offer’s an exhilarating
surf launch off Zinkwazi Beach.
Our aim is to provide a customized service that includes Day and
Night Fishing, Game and Bottom Fishing, Corporate Team Building, Whale
and Dolphin viewing or a Leisure trip enjoying our beautiful ocean and
coastline, as well as Spearfishing (own spearfishing equipment to be
supplied). All other fishing equipment and bait will be supplied by us.
Beginners are welcome and assistance will be supplied.
Due to the water conditions off the Tugela River Mouth and low boat activity,
one can experience a rare sighting of the humpback dolphins as well as the
common bottle nose dolphin’s which is ideal for leisure trips. There is
extensive shark activity over the Northern area of Zinkwazi where the sharks
come up and eat bait fish, this allows for awesome viewing.
Ocean Echo launches off Zinkwazi, where the Zinkwazi Beach Angling Club
is situated directly on the beach where one can meet and check out the ocean
conditions for the day. The surf launch is tractor assisted. Fishing is done
locally or 18km out to sea on the Zinkwazi High Points. Here you can catch
Barracuda (November–April), Snoek (May-June), Garrick and Salmon (July), Dorado,
Sail Fish and Wahoo (November-May), Kingfish and a variety of bottom fish and
more. August and September are good months for bottom fishing.
Shark Fishing is offered year round and should one feel the urge to test
their strength against a large shark, it can be caught, photographed and
released alive.
Bryan Potgieter is your skipper as well as the owner of Ocean
Echo, with 23 years of fishing and spearfishing experience and a passion for
the ocean! As safety is the key issue, we want you to be able to relax
and enjoy the day knowing that you are in the care of a very experienced crew.
Ocean Echo is 23ft in length, has a Gunya Gunya Mono hull,
a walk around cabin and was built by Bryton Ski’s. She sports 2
x 2009 model 85hp Yamaha Engines and has 2 live bait
hatches, GPS Plotter and Fishfinder on board. All traces are handmade
by Bryan. Overall she is very stable and seaworthy which allows her to withstand
most conditions the surf can throw at her.
Ocean Echo offers a boat charter for one day, launching at +/- 6am
and returning early afternoon +/- 3pm. Max of 7 persons can be accommodated on
the boat.
An angling license is required for each fisherman on board the boat;
these can be purchased at any Post Office in SA and must be obtained prior to
launching. Should you require assistance with angling licenses – don’t
hesitate to contact us.
You may keep what you catch and these fish will be cleaned and prepared for
taking home.
