The fun-loving folks here at Wilgewandel Holiday Farm have recreated the era of the 18th century Pioneers of Southern Africa. We are proud to invite you and your tour group to stop at Wilgewandel Holiday Farm and enjoy this unique live show.

Visitors will be able to experience the culture and traditions of the early Pioneers who lived here during the 18th century. The show demonstrates how the Pioneers of South Africa survived, how they lived, the clothes they wore, what they are and how they sang and danced. Come and experience the romance of a bygone era.

Your cultural Pioneers experience will include the following:

1. A welcoming party dressed in authentic pioneer-style clothing will greet you with folk song and dance.

2. An interesting guided tour of 30-40 minutes through the cultural village will follow, with lots of live action and photo opportunities.

3. A delectable three-course themed lunch or dinner (set menu) will be served in authentic dinnerware.

An example of our menu:
Starter: soup and roosterkoek or homemade bread
Main meal: bobotie / bredie / sosatie (beef/ostrich) / homemade chicken pie, served with samp/rice and vegetables.
Dessert: koeksisters / milk tart / baked pudding
Coffee or tea with a complimentary glass of wine, witblits, port or grape juice.

4. In our curio shop guests can browse to their heart's content, listen to "boere" music and watch a 10 minute video about the living and breathing of the 18th century Pioneer.

The duration of the entire Pioneers Experience is approximately 90 minutes.
