Amohela ho Spitskop is a 310 hectare Country Retreat in the magnificent Eastern Free State Highlands, on the Ficksburg border.

The Retreat has a 4 star grading in the self-catering category from the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa and is the winner of the 2007 AA Award for the category Self Catering Cottages/Chalets.

Nestled in a valley between Ficksburg and Clocolan, a visit to this privately owned Reserve is an absolute must.

Built from beautiful local stone, the cottages are large, luxurious, tastefully equipped for self-catering, the décor exceptional.

With huge open fires, big comfy couches, books, magazines and views to die for, this is the perfect getaway for the discerning guest.

The Retreat offers fly fishing, walks, hikes, mountain & cycle trails, birding, small game, self drive day trips, seclusion & privacy. For television and radio we have incredibly beautiful night skies and endless silence.

Rediscover your soul in the vast space and timelessness of the Highlands, where magnificent sunrises and sunsets begin and end each day.

Accommodation:

There are three cottages , Mongoose House with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, Guinea Fowl Cottage with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and Porcupine Cottage with 2 bedrooms & two bathrooms.

All the cottages have huge open fires, fully equipped kitchens with stove, microwave, kettle, toaster, a large open plan living area with big comfy couches, lovely dining area and covered deck with weber braai & magnificent views of the Maluti Mountains.

Bathrooms are en suite, except for Mongoose House (3 bedroom )with one en suite and two bedrooms share, bathrooms are huge and pampering with heaters in all the bedrooms and bathrooms.Overhead fans in all the cottages in open plan lounge/dining/ kitchen area.

All bedding and towels are provided, except swimming towels.

• Fly fishing for trout, black bass and barbel.
• Day drives to Rosendal, Clarens, Lesotho, scenic locally self drive.

• Weber braai' at all cottages
• Serviced daily.
• Breakfast on request, served in the beautiful dining room @ Dassie House or Al Fresco on the large covered stoep.
• Satellite TV in the main house, where there is a guest lounge and pub, open from 9am to 6pm.
• We do not allow pets.
• Smoking only in open areas ie stoep.
• There is a really nice 9 hole golf course 13kms away @ Clocolan, where springbuck graze free, we have had very good reports from guests.
