Askari is yet another choice of self-catering accommodation offered to guests
on the privately owned 2,00ha Esikhotheni Private Game Reserve, south of Pongola,
bordering on Jozini Dam.
Designed with smaller families in mind, Askari is a collection of 3
self-catering adjoined units. Each unit has a single bedroom with 2 single beds.
The couches in the lounge convert into full single beds at night for guests who
have children. The separate bathroom is very spacious with shower over bath,
toilet and basin. The kitchen is fully contained with fridge/freezer, stove,
microwave, plus all the additional appliances required. Open plan lounge and
kitchen with breakfast nook in between. All units are air-conditioned, and
serviced daily. Linen and towels supplied. Firewood and ice for sale at the
lodge.
Askari is perfect for larger groups who would want to utilize all 3 units
together.
Each unit has a veranda, and private braai facilities. The units are separated
by reed fencing, giving individual parties privacy.
Askari is within walking distance of the lodge where guests can enjoy facilities
such as the swimming pool and pub. No TV in the units, but there is a TV in the
bar that has all the sports channels. Guests can have meals by prior arrangement
at the lodge.
Esikhotheni Private Game Reserve is home to 4 of the Big 5, and has the added
attraction of the Jozini Dam, the only dam in South Africa where the Tigerfish
can be caught.
Bringing you own boat?
We welcome guests who prefer to bring their own boats. There is a slipway for
launching, and a small bay where boats can be moored. Your boat can be left at
the water overnight - its quite safe as the enitre reserve share the same access
procedures.
No fishing licenses are required.
No launching fees.
Skippers license required.
Boats to be moored by sunset - no boats permitted on the water after dark.
