Champagne Cottages is a small family owned resort situated alongside the
beautiful Bell Park Dam in the magnificent mountainous region of the Central
Drakensberg.
The Central Berg is part of the Okhahlamba region and is one of SA's World
Heritage Sites. The area has no 'poor weather' season and the Summers, although
hot during the day, are invariably cool in the evenings. The Winters are
especially nice with sunny days and chilly mornings and evenings - perfect to
enjoy a cosy fire!
A tarred road extends to our front gate and provides easy access to the many
amenities of the area, which include hotels, restaurants, golf courses as well
as a variety of outdoor activities, all within eight to fifteen minutes drive.
The resort, a two hour drive from Durban and a four hour drive from
Johannesburg, is perfect for a weekend getaway.
If you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday venue, we offer comfortable
value-for-money accommodation.

We have six self catering cottages offering a variety of accommodation :
1 x 2 sleeper
1 x 3 sleeper (one bedroom with a sleeper couch in the lounge)
1 x 4 sleeper (one bedroom with 2 single beds in the lounge)
2 x 6 sleepers
1 x 8 sleeper

All the chalets are fully equipped for self catering and linen is provided.
Every unit has the following :
- Fireplaces
- TV with MNet / Movie Magic 1 & 2 / SABC 3
- Covered Verandahs with braai facilities
The chalets are serviced daily with the exception of Public Holidays.
During Winter, wood is available to purchase and the maids will provide the
necessary kindling and paper to start your fire.

Facilities on Site :
The chalets are a short walk down to Bell Park Dam (pedestrian access only)
where one can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the waters edge as well as the
abundant bird life. The dam is stocked with Bass and Yellow Fish and fishing
rods are available for hire if you don't have your own. You are welcome to bring
your own canoes and motor boats - vehicular access is via the main gate to the
dam and day permits are required to enter.
There is also a smaller dam on the property and is stocked with Bass and Carp.
The resort has a swimming pool and a childrens play area and there are horse
trails right next door.
Activities in the valley:
Include two golf courses, one an 18 - hole championship course, tennis, squash,
bowls, swimming, hiking, bird watching, quad biking, helicopter tours, trout and
bass fishing, river rafting, horse riding and canopy tours. The area hosts a
number of MTB races every year and is fast becoming a mountain bikers paradise.
Local places of interest:
Include battlefield sites, bushman paintings, Spioenkop Game Reserve, the
internationally acclaimed Drakensberg Boys' Choir School (performances on
Wednesday at 15h30). A falconry display centre (daily performances at 10h30am),
helicopter flips into the mountains, the Winterton museum and arts and crafts
centres along the Drakensberg Meander.
