Chimera Game Ranch is situated in the heart of the
Groot Marico and approximately 2½ hours drive from Gauteng on the Platinum highway. This is where the famous writer Herman Charles Bosman spent a lot of his time and where his well-known Marico Stories originated.
Nearby attractions are the Riekertsdam (Klein Marico Bosveld Oord). Other nearby Historical towns are
Swartruggens.
Groot Marico is also famous for its Mampoer - traditional South African drink - that is made and produced in the Groot Marico district. Marico is also well known for its yearly festivities for example the Marico Mampoer feast.
Chimera Game Ranch lies between beautiful mountains, with wonderful and awesome Bushveld scenes.
The farm consists of 1500ha of beautiful Bushveld, savannahs and mountains. Chimera Game Ranch host a variety of animal species like Eland, Oryx (Gemsbuck), Kudu, Blue wildebeest, Zebra, Hartebeest, Waterbuck, Blesbuck, Impala, Warthog, Bushbuck, Reedbuck, Leopard, Jackal, baboons and an amazing bird life. All the species can be seen with an open 4x4 safari vehicle provided with a driver. The game drives can be organized with the manager on site. Sundowners and beautiful views at sunset can be organized with the management. For the hunters we provide scouts and personnel to help with the hunting.
The self-catering Lodge consists of 6 bedrooms that provide room for at least 4 people and a total of 14 people - 4 rooms with bathrooms. The rooms are furnished with modern furniture and linen. A fully equipped kitchen with a Stove, oven, microwave, kettle is available. A dining room is close to the kitchen for those more cosy meals. For relaxation a sauna, Jacuzzi and a pool are on the premises. The braai-area is in the centre of the lodge, with the on looking bar equipped with DStv for those important programs, and the living room at the main entrance. The covered parking is in front of the main entrance. Catering can be provided on request. Housekeeping is daily on the premises to clean, make the beds and wash the dishes for your convenience.
Chimera offers our guests the luxury of bird watching, fishing, game-drives, hunting and relaxing at their own leisure and privacy.
For those more outdoor loving guests we offer a self-catering tent camp, which can accommodate up to 20 persons. There are 5 tents equipped with 4 beds, one communal kitchen, braai facilities at each tent as well as a "boma braai area". There are bathrooms on the camp site. There are DStv facilities, although you have to bring your own DStv card. A splash-pool by the Boma, cool you down when the summer heat takes its toll on you. The Camp offers you the most relaxing experience of a life-time.
