CLARIZMA
Self Catering Cottage/ House/ Bungalow Accommodation
in Kaapsche Hoop, Lowveld & Kruger National Park,
Mpumalanga, South Africa
The picturesque little tourist village of Kaapsehoop is situated in the misty
mountains of the goldfields, 28km from Nelspruit. Clarizma is built in the
authentic architecture of the 1880's. The house boasts two double rooms and
another are with a bunker bed. One of the two bathrooms is en-suite and the
kitchen is fully equipped for self catering. Clarizma is next to the famous
Koekepan Pannekoek and from the other restaurants braai facilities are
available. The verandah is the place to relax and enjoy the view.
Kaapsehoop is on the edge of the Mpumalanga escarpment and is set among massive
unusual rock formations, which makes it a hiker's paradise. There are various
hiking trail options ranging from a 20 minute hike to a viewpoint "at the edge
of the world" to a 3 hour hike to the newly discovered Adam's Calender. Battery
Creek waterfall is a 45 minute fairytale hike and a must do on the list.
Kaapsehoop is designated "Important Bird Area" and well trained birdguides are
available. The Blue Swallow natural heritage site, has been set aside for the
protection of the endangered blue swallow. Horse trails ranging from one hour to
a full day trip at Berlin, 6km from the village.
The approx. 200 mysterious and famous wild horses, in and around the village is
a major tourist attraction.
Explore all the arts and craft shops, fuchsia nursery and historic cemetery.
Trails on the escarpment, with beautiful views in small 4x4 bucxters is great
fun!
Kaapsehoop also offers a conference centre and the perfect wedding venue with a
beautiful chapel.
Adam's Calender is believed to be the oldest sun calender in the world (75 000
years) and was only discovered recently when helicopters were searching for a
missing aeroplane in the area and saw the strange looking rocks.
The fresh mountain air and breathtaking views, together with its perfect
location, makes Kaapsehoop the perfect place to stay while exploring the Lowveld
and Kruger Park. Nelspruit, with all the amenities of a big city, is only twenty
minutes away. It is approx. 290km from Johannesburg and 250km from Pretoria. A
big bonus is that Kaapsehoop is malaria free due to its high altitude.
Misty mountains, wild horses and the oozy ambience of this historic digger's
town may lead to a "second gold rush" by city dwellers, but hopefully will stay
a perfect place of retreat!
