Situated in a protected nature reserve perched high on the cliffs and surrounded
by forest, fynbos and ocean these eco houses are ideal hideaways for those
seeking peace and tranquility.
The houses
Multi-award winning, these eco friendly timber houses blend exquisitely with the
surrounding nature in a combination of light, glass, wood and space
Slide open the glass doors from the living room to the sea facing deck and watch
whales and dolphin in the bay or waves crashing against the rocks. The dining
room leads onto the forest deck, a birders paradise, peaceful and protected.
Watch the flash of red and green as the Knysna Loerie swoops over the forest
canopy and, if you are lucky, you might glimpse a bushbuck passing by. Set into
the deck of 23 is a swimming pool, surrounded by forest and fynbos in hues of
pink, lavender, yellow and orange.
The main bedroom with glass doors opening onto spectacular views of the ocean,
takes your breath away. Watch whales and antelope from the romantic bath big
enough for two in the luxurious bathroom en suite.
The houses are fully equipped with quality furnishings, appliances and cotton
percale linen - everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The spaces
have been created for peace, reflection and conversation. Play games, bird
watch, do a puzzle, read or simply gaze at the view - there is no television to
spoil the atmosphere

The Nature Reserve
Walk out the front door and along a short path into the forest and you will find
a magical hidden boma with a barbecue area, picnic table and even a toilet in a
tree.
The nature reserve abounds with trails and walks - the 'Fynbos walk' winds
through Protea, Erica and other flower species seen nowhere else in the world.
The 'Whale walk' takes you along rugged cliffs and up and down steep gorges; the
"River walk" meanders gently along the Meulen river to where it enters the sea
at Ballots Bay. The rocks around Ballots Bay are a fisherman’s paradise and the
pebbly beach is perfect for foraging and exploring or paddling in the river as
it meets the sea. The plains above the cliffs are home to antelope, zebra,
karakul, porcupine, bush pig and many more.
The reserve is accessed via a private road that winds over rivers and up and
down steep slopes that some call challenging, we call marvelous. But don't be
put off; it is easily accessed in ordinary vehicles.
Further afield
Drive 10 minutes to famous surfer's paradise, Victoria Bay, which boasts not
only world class surfing, but also an excellent swimming beach. George with its
shops, restaurants and cinemas is 15 minutes away. Wilderness, also 15 minutes
away has beautiful beaches, lagoon and river, canoeing, great walks, restaurants
and country markets.
Sedgefield, 25 minutes away is famous for its award winning Saturday farmers
market with gourmet organic products grown in the vicinity. The serene inland
lakes flow into the sea here and the beaches are amongst the finest on the
Garden Route.
The Garden Route is a golfers paradise featuring the most spectacular golf
courses in South Africa. It was named 2007 Golf Destination of the Year for
Africa by the International Association for Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO)
Other Garden Route destination like Knysna, Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn and
Plettenberg Bay are within easy reach.
