Every place tells a story, come and listen to ours. Wake up during winter to the cries of Blue Cranes, or sheep calling their lambs in the spring. Visit the first Crickleywood Alpaca Breeding Centre, the first alpaca farm in the Eastern Cape. Let your kids run free amongst the farmyard animals, canoe on the dam, or learn to ride a horse cowboy style, and join in with the farmwork city slicker style. Even the nights offer clear starlight skies that will re-awaken the star gazer in you. Wonder at the milkyway whilst listening to the silent sounds of the Karoo night.
The guesthouse currently has three rooms available, one with an en-suite bathroom. The other two rooms share a separate bathroom. Two of the rooms have French doors opening onto the verandah. There is a coffee area in the house, where guests can have tea and coffee at anytime, with a fridge that is at their disposal. There is also a lounge and dining room, for the guests to relax in.
If relaxing away from the stress of the office is what you need, simply sit in the garden listening to the singing of the birdlife that abound in the area, or read one of our many books, soaking up the warm homely atmosphere.
The Cape Dutch style farmhouse, originally built in 1770, is situated 50km north of
Graaff-Reinet on the Middleburg road (N9). It is within 35mins of Nieu Bethesda, the Mountain Zebra Park, and Graaff-Reinet. With only 300m of ground road, it offers easy overnight accommodation in a tranquil farm environment.
For those visiting the area, it is surrounded by historical places. Livestock and game can be seen scattered across the vast open Karoo veldt. Bushman paintings and fossils nearby tell of years gone by. All connected by scenic dirt tracks through mountain passes, ideal for cycling enthusiasts.
