A hearty welcome to De Oude Meul Country Estate and Game farm.Oudtshoorn and the world famous Cango Caves on the R328. To overnight on this beautiful farm is an unforgettable experience. The lodge is surrounded by mountains, which together with the exotic plants of the Klein Karoo create a quiet serene atmosphere.

Our facilities include 40 rooms which include Luxury flat apartments. Self Catering Family units which have two separate interleading rooms with two separate en-suite bath rooms. With a lounge area and a television in the unit with cooking facilities and a private veranda in front of the unit. Standard family units are also available. Standard double units with double/queen size beds as well as twin bedded rooms.

We have two sparkling swimming pools, we also provide personalized sun set 4X4 tours that can include a BBQ on the mountain on the farm.

IMPORTANT NOTICE!

Dinner is one of the hallmarks of the Oude Meul. A residence bar and dining room offers grilled ostrich fillet and traditional South African cuisine. Here you may enjoy a four-course meal served with fresh local vegetables. The best local wines are also available.

Wedding and Conference Venue
We recently completed a new wedding and conference venue able to accommodate up to 300 delegates, with undercover BBQ area. We also cater for formal and informal dinners and private functions.

Attractions include the following:

• The Swartberg pass and its breathtaking view all the way to the top, with some of the best examples of sandstone formations in the world.
• Beautiful Meiringspoort with its numerous waterfalls and majestic cliffs.
• The Swartberg pass - Meiringspoort circle route will take you about 4 hours to complete.
• Visit C.P. Nel Museum one of the best small museums in the world. The world-famous Cango Caves.
• The Cango Wildlife Ranch and Crocodile Farm.
• Cango Ostrich Show Farm.
• Serene Waterfall and braai area at Rust en Vrede.
• A breathtaking variety of natural flora.

Oudtshoorn is one of the areas with the biggest variety of vegetation in the country. The indigenous plants are semi-dessert growth which means they can survive long periods of time without water. Sometimes you could even find a little specimen in small rock-crevice or a dried-up stream. Geraniums are one of the species that has been discovered here in the Klein Karoo and spread to the rest of the world.
