Vosburg?
Vosburg is a small picturesque Karoo town situated halfway between Britstown and
Carnavon. It is on the flower route between Gauteng and the West Coast about 322
km from Kimberley.
Vosburg was established on the farm Processfontein in 1895. It was named after
Mr Vos and the van Rensburg family. More than 22 buildings in town are national
monuments. The typical Karoo "Tuishuise" or Town houses are beautiful and a lot
of them are being restored at the moment.
Vosburg is an ideal stop-over on route to the West Coast or Cape Town from
Gauteng. No traffic congestion here! Peace and quiet is in abundance here!
Hunting is big in Vosburg. Springbok abound and a lot of farmers offer hunting
packages. This area contains some ancient Bushmen history. Bushmen paintings,
graves and a rare Bushmen piano is on a farm in the district and can be visited.
There is also a hiking trail to enjoy the flowers in spring after early rains.
Accommodation:
The guest house is a renovated 1930's house converted into 3 self catering
units. It is named after the original owners Mr and Mrs Myburgh who's nickname
was Die Katte [The Cats] The units is named Haroldt, Tokkie and Jasper. [Mr and
Mrs Myburgh and one of their sons]
Haroldt is a two bedroom unit with 2 single beds in each room. It also has a
fully furnished kitchen, bathroom with shower and bath and a living room.
Tokkie is a family unit with 2 bedrooms. The main bedroom have 2 single beds and
in the second bedroom is a single bed. It also has a bathroom with a shower, a
living room and a fully furnished kitchen.
Jasper is a one bedroom unit with a double bed, bathroom with shower, fully
furnished kitchen and a living room.
Both Harold and Tokkie have a private stoep. All the bedrooms are airconditioned.
Tokkie has a wood burning stove and Jasper a fireplace to take care of the
winter chill. An outdoor braai with table and chairs is also provided. Lockup
garages is available for 3 cars. DSTV easy view is installed in each unit.
Braaipacks and breakfast is available at Die Ketel coffee-shop in town. The
annual Pan Fun is a huge off road rally hosted every December at a nearby pan in
Vosburg and absolutely not to be missed!
Come and enjoy the peace and quiet that only the Karoo can offer. We are looking
