Zululand welcome awaits you; Alan and Bev will be your hosts and your comfort is
our priority.
There are 4 unique, tastefully furnished self-catering, fully-equipped log
cabins, set in a tranquil garden bordering the Dlinza Forest, where abundant
bird life abounds. Each cabin consists of an open-plan kitchen, seating area and
bedroom, with a bathroom leading off the main area (sleeps maximum of 2 adults &
2 children). All cabins have a covered patio and braai (BBQ) facilities. All
cabins have a TV, DSTV and there is secure parking.
The edge of our garden is the beginning of the 250 ha indigenous Dlinza Forest,
one of the many beautiful forests in Zululand. The forest is easily accessible
and is currently visited by birdwatchers from all over the world hoping to catch
a glimpse of rare bird species, such as the Spotted Ground Thrush (Zoothera
guttata) or the Eastern Bronze-naped Pigeon (Columba delegorguei). The forest
echoes with the calls of Trumpeter Hornbills, Purple-crested Turacos
(Purple-crested Lourie) and Narina Trogons (as does our garden). For a nominal
fee, forest walks only 200m away
The Dlinza Forest has an impressive 125-metre aerial boardwalk, at an elevation
of 10 metres which allows visitors to walk right under the canopy of Dlinza's
indigenous scarp forest and culminates in a 20-metre observation tower with a
breath-taking view. The walkway, which is wheelchair friendly, provides intimate
access to 65 bird and 85 butterfly species, as well as to small mammals such as
blue duiker, bush pigs and bush babies.
Shakaland, famous for depicting Zulu culture is in close proximity to Eshowe as
well as various museums, battlefields and the Phobane Dam (Bass Fishing). The
Hluhluwe/Umfolozi Park, containing the Big Five, is also only 1 hour's drive
away. Eshowe is situated 25 km inland from the warm Indian Ocean.
