Location:- On the Tugela Ridge in KZN Drakensberg, Also listed on KZN
Battlefields Route. The beautifully restored mansion ( 1897), was used as
quarters for Boers, later British troops in Jan 1900. It has 10 x En suite
3-Star graded guest rooms and a luxury self catering stone cottage. Large
veranda’s with stunning views, complete the description of this 19th century
homestead. 8 of the 10 En suite guest rooms have their own outside entrances,
and the 4 luxury rooms are mostly decorated with antique furniture.
This picturesque dwelling is built against the slopes ThabaNyama next to
notorious Spion Kop Battle site in 1897. It is on the R616 motor way only 17km
off the N3, which makes a lovely scenic alternative route. It offers stunning
views on the Drakensberg and Maluti mountains. The R616 joins the N3 motorway
with the scenic R74, in the magnificent surroundings of the Natal Drakensberg.
A Stone chapel Built in 1891, situated 800 meters from the homestead is where
many happy weddings have taken place. The owners do all the catering &
arrangements for these momentous occasions. A pool room & Pub is built under the
house in the old ammunition stash. The atmosphere in this pub is unsurpassed in
the Drakensberg.
Travelling a maximum radius of 65 km from Easby lets you explore the magnificent
Drakensberg range; - visit a game reserve, do horse riding, or go on adventurous
excursions like abseiling, white river rafting, quad bikes etc. etc. etc. Easby
House is a destination on its own and the visitor can enjoy lovely walks on the
farm, swim in the pool, laze around in the sun on the beautiful lawns and enjoy
the most spectacular views. Easby House offers homely accommodation and guided
tours on the Battlefields Route. It also offer a daily guided 3km hike on
ThabaNyama, (battle site next to SpionKop).

studied history at the University of South Africa and is a registered spes.
Regional guide. He has done vast research on Boer War history & has 15 years
experience in tour guiding in Natal. He will discuss various options of
battlefields to fit your itinerary. His knowledge & presentation will let you
relive history.
You can experience the largest and bloodiest battles of British troops against
the legendary Boer Commando's in 1900 on the slopes of ThabaNyama & Spion Kop.
Other tours include Battles at Colenso, Ladysmith and Newcastle. Join a guided
3km walk on a well-maintained trail on the battle sites that starts 20 meters
from Easby's back door, or you can book for any of the many other guided tours.
