Eirene is a peaceful thatch roof self-catering cottage in Voelklip, Hermanus.
Voelklip with its famous swimming beaches is the well-known holiday suburb of
Hermanus.
Eirene is picturesquely nestled against the mountain, overlooking the sea.
Ideally situated for whale watching, strolling along the famous cliff path, and
hiking in the Fernkloof Nature Reserve in the Klein River mountains above
Hermanus.
The cottage is on the slopes of the mountain very close to the Fernkloof Nature
Reserve with its abundance of fynbos, the major vegetation type of the small
botanical region known as the Cape Floral Kingdom. Fynbos, or "fine bush" refers
to the fine needle-like leaves of many fynbos species. The international Blue
Flag status Grotto Beach is about a 10-minute leisurely walk.
The front stoep with its sea view is a cosy place to enjoy the tranquillity of a
quiet corner of this popular seaside resort.
The cottage is fully equipped.
Corrie Smit is your hostess. Needless to say, as the cottage is regarded as a
single unit, guests have the cottage for themselves.
Inside:
The fully equipped cottage offers the following:
- Three bedrooms (sleeps 6). Two bedrooms upstairs with a queen-size and a
double bed and a bedroom on the ground floor with two single beds.
- Linen and towels are provided.
- Large living room with TV set / DVD.
- Main Bedroom en suite.
- Bathroom & separate toilet (upstairs).
- Kitchen with microwave oven, stove, fridge/freezer, washing machine,
dishwasher and drier.
- A pay phone is available.
Facilities:
- Barbeque facilities in the garden.
- A lock-up garage.
- Ample off-street parking.
- Do your whale watching during the season (July to November) from
Eirene's stoep or from the kilometers-long cliff path. A walk to the beach
takes less than 10 minutes.
- Or walk amongst the splendor of the fynbos on the mountain trails. Join
the mountain trails after a 5-minute walk from the cottage.
Location:
Hermanus, a very popular holiday resort, is a 90-minute drive (120 km) from Cape
Town. Voelklip with its many holiday homes is a suburb of Hermanus and about 5
km from the busy town centre. Hermanus is one of the world's best land-based
sites for whale watching (season - July to November). Or swim at the Blue Flag
Grotto Beach, Voelklip Beach, Kamma Beach or Long Bay. A beautiful golf course,
walking trails along the mountain slopes in the Fernkloof Nature Reserve and
seashore, mountain biking, sailing and horse riding facilities, shops and
numerous restaurants make visiting Hermanus a wonderful experience. A long
late-afternoon walk on the seemingly endless Grotto Beach is one of the many
reasons why visitors keep coming back to Hermanus.
