Activities:
There is a wonderful hiking trail on the farm to the Enjo Amphietheatre, and to
our spring which feeds our drinking water and a nice dam with wooden decks and
sunbeds for swimming. You can choose between exploring the area by horse,
mountain bike or motorbike.
If you want to push your adrenalin a bit more, you can join us on a ride in our
small plane through the rock formations of the Cederberg.
Close by you will find the Wupperthal missionary village with its handmade shoe
factory and rooibos tea shop as well as some hiking along gorgeous rock pools.
You can spend your last energy on the Sevilla rock art trail with its rock
paintings and caves or ride the Biedouw Valley 4x4 track close by.
If that all sounds to active to you, just chill out by the river or our spring
fed dam next to the farm and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.
History of Enjo Farm:
Because the farm has been a sheep and goat for almost 200 years we decided to
continue this tradition and started farming with the wild sheep breed called
Damara. Every sheep has its own looks and coulours. Some exaples you will find
in our padding zoo for kids.
We also started farming with a succulent plant called Hoodia. While the San
bushmen used to eat that plant to survive in the desert it is now used as
appetite suppressant. The hoodia is indigenous in the Biedouw Valley and we
collect the seeds on our farm and make little seedlings in our nursery. You are
welcome to take a look at these little plants.
The main farm house still has its original cedar wood doors and yellow wood
ceilings. The one meter thick walls out of stone and clay where made to last
forever.
