Situated on Esikhotheni farm,
Pongola Game Reserve South bordering on the famous Jozini Lake where the infamous Tiger Fish has eluded countless fishermen.
For the avid bird watcher, this is paradise, with the vast ecological diversity lending itself to a broad spectrum of the feathered specie that can be sighted. At the Bush Camp alone over 140 species have been noted, including the elusive Gorgeous Bushshrike, and a Giant Eagle Owl on his quest to rid the camp waterhole of the noisy frogs evening after evening.
Home to 4 of the big five, along with a range of other game such as Giraffe, Zebra, Blue wildebeest, Red and Grey Duiker, Reedbuck, Warthog etc, guests have on occasion been fortunate enough to witness the elephant frequenting the waterhole situated 50m from the Bush Camp.
Facilities
Esikhotheni Bush Camp consists of a large elevated deck, situated on the Mpeti Stream, able to comfortably accommodate 6 to 8 people (bedding and towels supplied), sleeping either inside the wood cabin, or on the deck, weather permitting - an experience not to be missed!
The open rondavel kitchen is fully kitted for the self-catering guest including a fridge and freezer, stove, etc., and is serviced daily. Firewood & ice are supplied at no extra charge.
Whilst the very unique bathroom, situated off the deck, partially surrounded by bush, boasts 5 star facilities, the sense of "bush belonging" is overwhelming with the huge windows allowing one to observe (or be observed) transforming the most mundane of activities into an unforgettable experience.
Esikhotheni Bush Camp is perfect for the individual who wishes to be "left alone to vegetate, and get the old batteries recharged".

Location
Situated 21km north of
Mkuze 1.5km off the N2 to Pongola makes this destination easy and safe to access - no need to wander off into rural areas.
Activities
Within the boundaries of Esikhotheni:
- Game Drives: by courtesy of Esikhotheni Lodge
- Boat Cruises: along the edges of the 3rd largest fresh water lake in South Africa, or down the picturesque gorge toward Jozini dam wall with water so clear one can see to great depths;
- Fishing: Tiger, Carp and Bass in abundance within the lake;
- Elephanting: up close and personal - an amazing adventure
