Granny Mouse Country House and Spa is in the magnificent Caversham Valley in
Balgowan and surrounded by gardens overlooking conservancy areas on the Lion's
River. This classic Country House hotel, with its reputation for excellence, is
located an hour and a half from Durban and four and a half hours from
Johannesburg.
Award winning restaurants offer a range of menu items from relaxed Bistro though
to Fine Dining in the Eaves restaurant. The refurbished property has retained
its reputation for a relaxed gourmet experience, whilst introducing new menus
and concepts to diners.
Granny Mouse is the proud holder of a Diners Club Winelist "Diamond Award" for
our 2011 and 2010 winelist. This follows on from the 2009 & 2008 Platinum
Awards. The chefs are renowned for creating pairing menus which can be served in
the intimate setting of the wine cellar or one of the restaurants. The evening
is ended in the newly launched smoking lounge - Cigar - which is gaining a
reputation for its single malts and range of Cigars.
Weddings and Conferences are part of what we offer - catering to groups of
people up to 120 whilst at all times maintaining service excellence and the
little personal touches that create the memories. Our Chapel, with valley views,
provides the perfect setting to tie the knot.
Our accommodation, which has been newly refurbished, offers Garden Rooms, which
face onto the gardens; Family Rooms, which sleep 4 and Deluxe Rooms, which
overlook the Lion's River. Our newly built Deluxe Suites offer views of the
Lions River with a corner lounge as well as panoramic views from the spacious
window baths. Honeymoon packages are available to celebrate special occasions.
The Granny Mouse Spa has three couples rooms with treatments ranging from
skincare through to therapeutic massage, supported by a Steam Room, Jacuzzi and
Hydro Bath. Our Therapists also offer a full make up service are supported by
the Hair Salon for special events.

What to do in the Area
Granny Mouse Country House & Spa is part of the famous Midlands Meander which is
an association that has b een together for the last 25 years. It is made up of a
collective of businesses that showcase a wide range of artists, potters,
weavers, leatherworkers, antiques, glass, kite making, wood turner’s, furniture
makers, cheese, wine, chocolate and the list goes on, The history and heritage
of the area includes Howick Falls revered by the San people, the Scottish
influence in Fort Nottingham, the European history of the 1880 settler’s, the
capture site of Nelson Mandela. The area has an wide range of sporting a nd
outdoor activities including golf courses, walking, birding, canopy tours,
biking, hiking, fishing, game walks, paintball, sailing, c lay pigeon shooting
and various child friendly activities. The Midlands is famous for horses
predominantly studs, with horse riding facilities and our very own horse
whisperer.
