Addo Elephant Park. Standing in its own grounds on the river bank the Happy
Jackal boasts 5 luxurious, en-suite rooms, each with stunning river views and
upmarket facilities. Ideally situated just off the N2 and only 40 km from Port
Elizabeth airport it is a haven of river, sky and bush, alive with the cries of
birds and warmth of the sun.
Accommodation:
Rooms 1,2 and 3
These ground floor rooms, light and airy each lead out to a private patio
and the river bank. The queen-sized/twin beds are dressed with the finest
percale linen, goose down duvets and pillows. An en-suite bathroom includes a
very generous shower, fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries. Satellite TV,
bar fridge, hospitality tray, wall safe and ceiling fans are in each room.
Room 4
Luxury at its best. Entered from the landing overlooking the double volume
lounge, this carpeted room is truly huge with thatched roof and wooden beams. A
king-size, extra-length bed with mosquito canopy is dressed in the finest
Percale linen, goose-down duvets and pillows. A large, 3-quarter day-bed can be
used for an accompanying child. The en-suite bathroom has a deep tub as well as
a shower, complimentary toiletries and lots of fluffy white towels. The windows
gaze down at the river and across to the unspoilt bush opposite. Satellite TV,
bar fridge, hospitality tray, wall safe and a 3-speed ceiling fan are there to
ease your stay.
Room 5
A first floor room with its own outside thatched deck, this room enjoys the
most magnificent view of river and bush. Sit outside with your early morning
coffee while the mist curls up the river and the rest of the world still sleeps.
An en-suite bathroom with deep tub, shower, complimentary toiletries and lots of
fluffy white towels will ensure you relax in comfort. Slip into the king-sized,
extra-length bed with its cool percale linen and float under a cloud of goose
down duvet. This will be the best night's sleep of your trip! Satellite TV, bar
fridge, hospitality tray, wall safe and 3-speed ceiling fan compliment the room.
All our water is heated by solar power and recycled into the gardens.
The lodge has a no-smoking policy but ashtrays are provided on patios and
outside decks.
Activities
Guided game drives and safaris, game-viewing from elephant back or
horse-back, river cruises and adventure tours can all be arranged and booked for
you.
Take the Happy Jackal canoe- complete with lifejackets or our fishing rods and
tackle for a day on the river. Lounge on our floating jetty and trail your toes
in the salt water. We will supply your packed lunches and beach towels. Enjoy
cycling, bird-watching or walking in the clean, fresh air. Call in at our
friendly village pub for a drink and stroll along the river bank. Visit the sand
dunes at the river mouth and walk along the pristine beaches where the only
footprints you see will be your own.
Then at the end of the day, come home to a glass of wine, a long soak in the tub
and a scrumptious meal cooked just for you. True country comfort indeed.
Cuisine
Begin your day with a full English and Health breakfast. Freshly prepared
and personally served, our breakfasts include home-baked bread and strong Happy
Jackal coffee. Delicious evening meals will always feature a variety of
home-grown salads and vegetables from our organic garden. Home baked pastries
and pies, home-made soups and preserves and home-cured gammons will often make
an appearance. Wholesome and nourishing.
Our "Coronary Menu" is of particular interest to those with tender hearts. Your
continuing health is our greatest concern,.
