Hawksmoor House is a quiet and serene Cape Dutch country retreat located on a 220- hectare wine farm, Matjieskuil, near Stellenbosch. Meticulously restored and beautifully decorated with exquisite antiques, it occupies a stunning location amidst vineyards overlooking Table Mountain, and enjoys spectacular sunsets.

In addition to our guests, the farm is home to horses, cows, porcupines, hawks, herons, pelicans and countless other wildlife. Our resident German Pointers Cosmo & Max keep a watchful eye on the daily workings of the farm.

Hawksmoor House is the perfect place to unwind and let the day slowly go by, lie by the pool with a good book and a glass of our own fabulous Hawksmoor wine. It also serves as a great base to explore the Winelands. Our friendly and cheerful staff stay discreetly in the background, providing you with the feeling that you have the entire place to yourself and allowing you to relax in absolute peace and quiet.

The main house contains 14 guest rooms, a grand dining room, a drawing room with fireplace, honesty bar & i-pod docking station; a small library as well as internet access and a farmhouse kitchen with AGA stove & direct access to our herb garden. The grounds are laid out to include a large lawn, reflecting pond, lavender beds; vegetable garden, rose and herb gardens, gorgeous wine cellar with fireplace, wine-tasting room, and a swimming pool with a view of Table Mountain.

A fence around the entire property provides privacy and security. Hawksmoor House offers a totally unspoilt, unpolished and authentic country home experience for those who need some well-deserved rest or would like to celebrate a special occasion.

Our stunning manor house guest rooms are large (25+ sqm), decorated individually, each designed around a colour and furnished throughout with exquisite antiques, and contemporary touches. Rooms feature wooden floor and wooden ceiling (except White and Beige rooms), queen-size bed, digital safe, elegant en-suite bathrooms with shower and/or bath & underfloor heating, beautiful garden views. I-pod docking stations can be provided upon request. 2 rooms have fireplaces (White and Beige rooms).

We serve Continental & English breakfast and afternon tea daily. Our popular country-fare dinners in the grand dining room are offered on Wednesday & Sunday nights. Other services include in-room massage and beauty treatments (9am - 9pm daily), laundry, airport pick-up, wine tastings and travel itinary planning & restaurant bookings. We speak English, Afrikaans, German, French & Japanese.

Location
We are a 15-minute drive from Stellenbosch, 20 minutes from Paarl, 25 minutes from Cape Town and 35 minutes from Franschhoek. There are 4 restaurants within a 5-minute drive.
