- those who enjoy nature (swimming, botanising, birding, etc) and want a restful holiday
- those needing a base from which to explore the winelands and Hermanus (a major whale-viewing spot).
High Lofts
High Lofts, a beautiful architect-designed home, full of light and air, has magnificent views across the florally rich wetland to the soaring Kogelberg mountains. Its covered verandah areas lead straight onto lawns making it ideal for outdoor-living whatever the wind or weather. A generous fire-place provides a cosy atmosphere for convivial winter evenings. A superb, quiet beach with fascinating rock-pools and safe sea-swimming is only a few minutes walk along a shaded path. Bass Lake (fresh-water), a kilometre away, safe for toddlers offers a tranquil stretch of water for active swimmers.
Accommodation
Accommodation, with bedding (duvet and two pillows per person) is for eight/nine:
- East-wing: Bedroom (queen-sized bed) with private hot outside shower, second bedroom (two single-beds) and separate full bathroom.
- West-wing: Bedroom (queen-sized bed) and separate full shower-room.
- Large mezzanine under a reed ceiling (queen-sized bed and single bed/s).
Guest toilet and basin.
Facilities
Kitchen is well-equipped: includes two fridges, dishwasher, microwave, 10 place-settings (crockery, cutlery, glasses).
Wash machine, small TV, beach umbrella, Weber braai and various books and games are available.
Bring your own linen (can be provided at an additional charge) and beach towels.
Places worth visiting
The penguin colony, John the Potter, Harold Porter Nature Reserve (beautifully laid-out garden with walks and restaurant) and
Kleinmond harbour development.
The many varied and beautiful walks in the area will delight both adventurous and casual walkers.
Betty's Bay and the neighbouring villages have restaurants. Supplies that aren't available from the local shops can be found at Kleinmond, 10 minutes drive away.
