Hoopoe Haven is a small and peaceful country guest house, situated in
beautiful Chartwell, but it is just a stones throw away from Montecasino leisure complex,
Dainfern golf course, 3 shopping malls, Lanseria and live theatre just to name a
few highlights.
Hoopoe Haven is positioned on 2 acres of landscaped gardens in the countryside
with Horse trails and a beautiful view of the Magaliesburg Mountains. It is a
place to relax and unwind in the peace and quiet of the countryside. One can
watch the magnificent birdlife while you have a sundowner or a braai on the
patio or a cooling swim in our crystal clear pool, with a beautiful sunset in the background. If you decide to stay up late on a clear evening you may even be
lucky enough to hear the roar of the lions from the lion park.
Accommodation
We have a variety of self-catering accommodation available to suite groups from
1 person to 25.
Bokmakerie and piet-my-vrou 4-5 sleeper cottages
Set in a brand new landscaped garden on the lodge complex.
These are 2 back-to-back cottages in one lovely thatch building which can each
sleep up to 5 guests.
They are let out either individually or they can be combined into a 10 sleeper
as there is an inter-leading door between them.
Each cottage consists of:
Downstairs:
A double bedroom
A large bathroom with separate toilet
An open plan lounge, dining area and fully equipped kitchen
Upstairs:
an open-plan tv lounge area with piped satellite TV and DVD player and a 2-3
sleeper dormitory
Guinea fowl 4-5 sleeper self-catering cottage
The guinea fowl self catering cottage is a lovely large thatch cottage
consisting of:
Downstairs:
Double bedroom with either 2 singles or 1 king-size bed Open plan dining room
Lounge with piped satellite TV and DVD player Large bathroom with bath and
shower Fully equipped separate kitchen
Upstairs in the loft
Sleeps 2 or 3 single beds or 1 king bed
Dove Garden Cottage
This is a lovely cottage on our own premises, right next door to the lodge. It
is absolutely ideal for the family unit who want privacy.
Please be aware that it is not really suited to a group of 3 or 4 separate
adults as it only has an en-suite bathroom and access to it is thru the bedroom.
It consists of:
- A large double bedroom with a queen or 2 single beds
- An en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower
- A large fully equipped kitchen with everything you may need to cook
with.
The open plan area consists of
- 2 huge gum pole bunk beds for the children
- A dining area
- A lounge with full TV coverage of mnet, tv1,2,3, etv and piped Dstv
satellite and DVD player
- It is fully secure with trellidoor gates and panic alarm as well as
electrified fence and electronic gates around the premises
- It is pet friendly (dogs not cats)
The cottage has it's own 1000 sq metre garden with garden furniture for you
to relax on while you braai your food and your kids play hide and seek in the
garden.
In addition you can view, from the lounge window, the 4:30pm feeding frenzy when
we have literally hundreds of birds feeding on our bird trays and in winter, in
the morning, you can view the louries and barbets, etc, fighting for the fruit
that we put out.
Even though it is not on the Hoopoe Haven grounds you have full access to the
lodge (if available) to use the lovely clear swimming pool and lodge facilities.
Swallows Nest self-catering cottage
My daughter has just opened up her one bedroomed self-catering cottage (called
Swallows nest) at the back of the lodge and I am marketing it for her as part of
the lodge.
It has a full open plan kitchen and lounge and a bathroom with shower only.
It fully secure with panic button linked to ADT and electric fence and automatic
gates.
Access to it is via a servitude thru the lodge.
It is fully serviced by the lodge staff and we also provide complimentary
cereals and tea and coffee.
- It has a really great view and garden area
- It is however small and really suites a single occupancy however it can
fit 2 single beds or 1 queen size bed
Entire lodge
The lodge building consists of the 5 rooms sleeping up to 11 guests which are
let out on a bed and breakfast basis normally (please view our web site on
Wheretostay under bed and breakfast for details) however we also let it out on a
block booking of the whole lodge on a self catering basis.
This can be combined with any or all of the three 6 sleeper cottages (up to 29
guests maximum) depending on your requirements.
Please be aware that we are not allowed, by municipality regulation, to hold
loud parties with outside visitors.
