In the far North of Botswana's Chobe National Park, and about 70 kms from the Victoria Falls four countries, Botswana, Zimbabwe,
Zambia and Namibia, all meet at one point, and it is here that you can find the small town of Kasane. The town lies on the south bank of the Chobe
River which forms the border with the extreme tip of Namibia's Caprivi Strip. About 8 km to the east of Kasane Botswana has a short frontage with the
Zambezi river immediately below its confluence with the Chobe, and here the Kasane border post serves the Kazungula Ferry crossing to Zambia on the
north bank of the Zambezi. The town lies at the northern end of the tarred road from Francistown and Gaborone which is a regional artery between
southern and central Africa, particularly for trucks too heavy for the Victoria Falls Bridge's periodic weight retrictions. Kasane is the
administrative centre of the Chobe District and the northern entrance to the Chobe National Park. There is one entrance into the Chobe National Park
from Kasane, Sedudu gate. As there are no boundary fences between the park and the village, game such as elephant and hippo can frequently be seen
wandering down the road and through the Kasane campsites.
