The small village of Southport on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast lies about ten kilometers to the north of Port Shepstone. The village has some good scuba diving, especially out at the Aliwal Shoal a few kilometres out to sea.

Twenty kilometers inland from Southport is the Oribi Gorge, a 400 metre deep gorge that is the largest and most spectacular gorge in KwaZulu-Natal.
