Maseru
Maseru is the capital of Lesotho and the Maseru district. It was founded in 1869 a a small British Police camp and gained independence in 1966. The name Maseru is a Sesotho word which means - Place of the red sandstone.

Attractions:
At the entrance of the city, there is a popular souvenir shop that is shaped as a Basotho Hat. Maseru also has a Setsoto Stadium where football is played and sometimes athletics is held there. If you are looking for something more active and adventurous to do, you will be able to 4x4 up Sani Pass or hike up the Lesotho hills which are nearby. Other attractions in the area include Katse Dam, Thaba Bosiu and the Maluti Mountains, taking into consideration that even short trips can take a long time due to the rugged yet beautiful terrain in Lesotho
