Tswalu is the largest privately owned game reserve is South Africa and is situated about one hundred and fifty kilometers to the northeast of Kuruman in the Northern Cape Province. Tswalu gives the visitor the opportunity of seeing the Kalahari Desert as it was a thousand years ago. This 100000 hectare reserve is totally malaria free and there are at least 40 species of animal that may be viewed here, including the rare Roan and Sable Antelope, the Cape Buffalo, Black Rhino and the King Cheetah. The skies in this part of the country are crystal clear, and the visitor has a wonderful view of the stars and planets at night. Here you can enjoy a safari either in a vehicle or on foot, or for those so inclined, by horseback. For the bird watcher, there are 250 species of bird to be found in the Tswalu Kalahari Reserve |
