The S.A. Lombard Nature Reserve is renowned for it's wildlife conservation efforts, and is credited for having saved the black wildebeest from extinction. Today it continues to serve as an important breeding centre for various large herbivores including red hartebeest, springbok and zebra, as well as black wildebeest.

Birdlife: over 250 bird species, including black korhaan, sparrow weavers, and blue cranes
Mammals: black wildebeest, red hartebeest, impala, zebra, springbok

DIRECTIONS TO SA LOMBARD NATURE RESERVE:
- from Bloemhof follow the R31 for 5 km
