Durban's Minitown is situated along the Marine Parade, and is one of the
city's most popular beachfront tourist attractions. Mini Town is a scaled down
1:24 replica of Durban, and was established on the Golden Mile thirty years ago.
The attraction is owned and maintained by the Quadriplegic Association of
KwaZulu-Natal, and not only provides employment for physically challenged people
but serves as a major source of funds for the organization.
The buildings in Mini Town reach about knee height on the average adult, and
provide visitors with an interesting perspective when taking a walk through the
tiny city. Many of Durban's Landmarks can be seen within the display, including
a harbour with moving ships, an airport complete with miniature aircrafts, and
an entire functioning railway infrastructure, as well as various interesting
models of Durban's well known architecture.
Night time in Minitown, sees the city lights casting twinkling reflections on
the lake and the harbor, transforming it into a diminutive wonderland. Visits to
Minitown ensure quality time spent with the family, and both parents and
children will be left amazed at this city within a city.
Opening Hours: Monday to Friday and Sunday, 9h30 till 20h30 and Saturday,
9h30 till 17h30.
