The White Mountain Folk Festival is held annually at the White Mountain lodge
in the foothills of the Giants' Castle Nature Reserve, over a three day period
in the month of September. The festival offers great music in an awesome
setting, featuring acoustic performances by some of the South Africa's top folk
musicians. Festival goers are afforded the choice of camping, caravanning and
chalet accommodation. Campers are housed in a beautiful campsite situated at the
edge of a dam. The sites feature newly installed hot water showers and ample
toilet facilities, as well as a beer market which offers a selection of
naturally brewed local ales and lagers.
A variety of attractions suitable for the entire family include hiking, boating
and bass fishing on the dam, arts and crafts, a beer market, a variety of food
stalls and fun kids’ entertainment. For the more adventurous visitors one can
try their hand at abseiling down a forty five meter cliff face or a taking a
ride on a fuffi slide across a nearby hundred meter wide gorge, as well as
helicopter flips also available if the weather permits.
