The Wavehouse at Gateway is also home to the biggest skatepark in South Africa, which was designed by ten time world skate boarding champion Tony Hawk, and covers a massive area of four thousand square meters. The skate park features six sections consisting of a beginner section, rhythm section, pro street course, a vert ramp and two concrete bowls: the snake run and kidney bowl. The Wavehouse has also become a popular destination for other forms of entertainment, which include live bands, and music festivals, as well as various contests like the World Flowboarding Tour, and prestigious skating competitions, which are also held at the venue.
