Mr Price Pro is one of the worlds longest running international surfing competitions that holds a 6 Star ASP World Qualifying Series rating offering R1.4 Million in prize money which is held in Ballito, North Coast, KwaZulu Natal (previously held in Durban, KwaZulu Natal) for a length of 10 days in June. The event is broadcasted live and fans of the sport will be able to view the live broadcast between 8am and 5pm each day and can also be viewed via the internet. There are multiple cameras capturing the event, two cameras on the beach, a wide-angle lens camera on the tower focusing on the surfing and a roving camera for interviews and happenings on the beach between the live surfing. Their is also repeats of the entire days footage that will be played on the site in the evenings for those who missed it during the day.
This year the event started on the 26th June 2009 and ended on the 5th July 2009, the results of the event display on their site as well as images of the event, surfer profiles, wallpapers, screensavers and interesting articles and interviews.
The Kwadukuza Municipality and East Coast Radio (ECR) have teamed up to represent the Mr Price Pro Ballito Music Concert on the 2nd July 2009 (Thursday). Some of South Africa's finest acts will perform live for free at Ballito's Salt Rock Beach for the public from 16h30 to 23h15. Some featured artists include : Manuvah to Land, Rise (a popular Durban band), idols finalist Pixie Bennett, indie rock/ disco funk outfit Gonzo Republic, pop-rock bank aKING, City Bowl Mizers, Zebra and Giraff and Prime Circle.
The festival also includes the Ballito Beach Mania which will have activities on all of Ballito's Beaches for the whole family for the duration of the ten days of the event. These activties include : Beach Volleyball, Beach Touch Rugby, Daily Fashion Shows, Community Developement Surfing and much more. Other facilities at the event include : a beer garden with live entertainment, a flat screen TV , arts and crafts, a kids arena with micro scooters and variety of food stalls.
A shuttle bus system will operate from within the Ballito area and from the Gateway Shopping Centre in Umhlanga, to get tickets for the shuttle bus service these can be bought at Mr Price Stores, the Lifestyle Centre Spar, Caltex garages in Ballito and Salt Rock, Shell garage in Ballito, Sangweni Tourism Office, Tourism Kiosk and Willard's Beach.
