Poetry Africa is an international poetry festival held in Durban annually, the festival is 7 to 10 days long and more than twenty poets, mostly South African poets participate in the Petry Africa international poetry festival which takes place during the final quarter of the year. Over 240 poets and writers have attended thne festival in its 12 aditions. In 2009 this will be the 13th Poetry Africa festival and it is held on the 5th October 2009 till the 10th October 2009.
The Poetry Africa programme includes : theatre performances, readings, music and book-launches with a festival finale at BAT centre on Saturday the 10th October 2009. There are also day activities which include : seminars, workshops, school visits (a school poetry competition will also take place) and open mic opportunities.
Poetry Africa is organized by the Centre for Creative Arts, The Centre for Creative Arts is a multi-disciplinary arts organisation within the faculty of Human Sciences at the University of KwaZulu Natal located in Durban.
