Wartrail Skywalk

The Wartrail Skywalk is a 5 day guided trail which leads visitors through the magnificent Eastern Cape Drakensberg, near Rhodes and the well-known Tiffindell Ski Resort. The terrain covered on the hike varies from river gorges, to mountain peaks. The hiking trail allows hikers to witness a variety of natural attractions which include bushman paintings, caves, interesting rock formations and abundant birdlife along the route.

Hikes are unmarked and therefore guided by local farmers who provide much entertainment, telling tales of local legends, and showing hikers the most secret places.

Hikes are tailored to the group's capabilities, i.e. strong hikers will be able to walk up to the peaks of the Southern Drakensberg whereas contour routes are available for those wanting a less strenuous walk. . Each hiker is supplied with a lunch pack.  Dinner consists of a three course meal, and breakfast is a farm-style affair.

The hike passes through well-managed and maintained farmland and montane grassland. Altitudes along the route vary between 1800m and 2700m, allowing visitors to breathe easily, and experience the awe inspiring scenery of the Southern Drakensberg and Maluti Mountains. The region displays a rich diversity in flora and fauna, and is home to the Lammergeier( a.k.a the Bearded Vulture), Black Eagle, an amazing array of alpine wildflowers, and various small wildlife species.
