The Carols By Candle Light Concert, is held every December at the Durban
Botanic Gardens and features the magnificent musical talents of the KwaZulu
Natal Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert is set against the tranquil backdrop
of the well manicured and maintained botanical gardens, which are particularly
worth visiting this time of year.
The informal atmosphere of the popular festive musical experience draws many
visitors each year, who often bring blankets and picnic dinners and enjoy a warm
summer night in Durban under the stars.
The one-night eventĀ is a celebration of the festive season, as well as
the well-known music which accompanies it. The KwaZulu Natal Philharmonic
Orchestra presents an appealing blend of both traditional and contemporary
Christmas Carols This concert is a highlight of the City of Durban's annual
festive celebrations each December.
The concert performance by the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra is accompanied by the
Durban Symphonic Choir as well as various soloists. The event is part of the
Concert at the Lake series, which are held regularly throughout the year, and
which started in 1995 with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, funded by Nedbank.
