The South African Sugar Terminal is one of the largest of its kind in the
world. The three enormous silos are capable of holding a total of more than half
a million tons of refined sugar, and handling and moving up to 800 tons of sugar
per hour. It is here at the Sugar Terminal, that sugar from the silos is loaded
onto cargo ships, and transported from Durban's harbour to various destinations
across the the globe.
Guided tours of the South African Sugar Terminal feature a fascinating wide
screen film presentation on the production, processing and refinement of sugar.
Sugar terminal tours run daily at 08h30, 10h00, 11h30, and 14h30, however no
tours are conducted on Fridays.
