Hartbeespoort Dam

The Hartbeespoort Dam is Gauteng's favourite getaway. Whether you're into watersports or arts 7 crafts, you'll be sure to have an enjoyable day. The Hartbeespoort village is nestled at the foot of the Magaliesberg mountain range along the northern shore of the dam. Here on can enjoy the many arts and crafts shops or enjoy a relaxing meal at one of the many fine restaurants overlooking the dam.

Watersport enthusiasts can enjoy plenty of thrills and spills whether it be windsurfing, para-sailing, or water skiing in the dam. Or if prefer something a little more relaxing, try the ferry boat cruise.

A cable car will take you up to the top of the Magaliesberg, which is a favourite location for hang-gliding.

On the southern shore of the dam lies the sleepy village of Cosmos ( or Kosmos) which comes alive every Sunday morning as scores of motorcyclists descend upon the local restaurant, which is the destination of the breakfast run.

The kids will love the Harbeespoortdam Snake Park, open daily from 08:00 - 17:00, with seal shows & snake handling demonstrations being held every Sunday at 12:00 & 15:00.

Golfers can choose from either Pecanwood Estate, Magalies Park Country Club, or the Caribbean Beach Club - all a short drive from the dam.
