The Kosi Bay Coastal Forest Reserve is complex ecosystem of several large freshwater lakes surrounded by swamp forests and grasslands.
Although birdlife is most prolific in the summer, unless you are willing to bear the uncomfortable heat and humidity, it is best to visit during the cooler and drier winter months between May and September.
Anglers can expect to find a variety of freshwater fish in the Reserve's 4 major lakes, including river snapper, queenfish, kingfish, pike, and grunter.
Several hiking trails wind through the network of swamps, mangrove forests, and grassland that surround the 4 main lakes of the reserve.
