Crystal Dam which provides boating and angling opportunities. Birding is also a popular attraction. Among the more interesting of the 200+ recorded species is the striped flufftail found in the wetlands and the bearded vultures that live on the mountain.

The Griquas under the leadership of Adam Kok, first settled the region in 1863. A national monument has been erected in their honour along side their laager site and cemetery.

Hikers are welcome to explore the park, including the challenging 2200m Mount Currie.
