The Kruger House, built in 1884, was the home of Paul Kruger, president of the Transvaal from 1883-1900, and his wife, Gezina. The house has been beautifully restored and refurbished to capture the true atmosphere of what it was like to live in relative luxury in this historic era.

The president's reception room, complete with spittoons and other curious objects, has seen many famous guests, including John Merriman, Cecil John Rhodes, Henry Stanley, and Mark Twain.

The house was one of the first homes in the Pretoria to have electricity and a telephone.
