Birds of Eden

Birds of Eden is a free-flight bird sanctuary near Plettenberg Bay with a huge dome covering more than 2 ha of indigenous forest,  making it the largest aviary in the world. The sanctuary is home to over 2,000 birds from 100 different species.

Visitors view the birds from a canopy walk that spans across the gorge below. An irrigation system built into the dome creates periodic rainfalls to keep the vegetation lush and green. These rainfalls are accompanied by artificial thunder booming from the dome's sound system, creating an incredible atmosphere.  Bird owners wishing to donate their pets are welcome to apply to release their pet birds into the sanctuary.

Restaurants located within the enclosure offer dining in a truly unique setting. Visitors are welcome to feed the ducks and loeries with a special feed available for sale.
