The seaside town of Gordon's Bay is found along the N2 highway, 45km from Cape Town, on the eastern end of False Bay. Gordon's Bay is framed by the Hottentots Holland Mountains and uniquely combines a cosmopolitan flair with old-style charm.

The Helderberg coast is popular with water-sports enthusiasts and Gordon's Bay is known for its sheltered beaches and harbours. Gordon's Bay is home to the South African Naval College and hosts regattas, yachting and angling events. Southern Right whales visit False Bay between June and November and Clarence Drive (R44) between Gordon's Bay and Rooi Els, provides a number of official whale watching spots.

Hiking trails include the Steenbras River Gorge, Danie Miller trail, and the scenic Steenbras Dam. The nearby Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve is popular for canoeing, hiking and its fynbos plantations and the Helderberg Nature Reserve has recorded over 169 species of bird.

Other popular activities include the Helderberg Wine Route and the Lwandle Hostel Museum and Arts & Crafts Centre - the first township-based museum in the Western Cape.
