Kenilworth lies between Claremont and Wynberg in the leafy southern suburbs of Cape Town, about 20 minutes from the city centre. Kenilworth is close to the Constantia Winelands, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and is possibly best known for the race course of the same name. The Kenilworth racecourse is the oldest racecourse in the country. It has three separate tracks and is used principally for autumn and winter racing. The "new" track, used for the J&B Met, measures 2800m around. Kenilworth is well known to locals for its factory shops, all located in one area known as Access Park, close to the M5, which provides discount factory prices for goods and is always busy as a result. Just behind Access Park is Kenilworth Karting, marketed as an adrenaline rush of racing; here you drive high-tech karts at high speed around a twisty racetrack that emulates the Kenilworth race track further up the road. |
